Coos County Public Hearing: Tell FERC to Stop Jordan Cove LNG

  • Southwestern Oregon Community College Hale Center for the Performing Arts 1988 Newmark Avenue Coos Bay, OR, 97420 United States (map)

Come to a public hearing to tell the federal government that our communities want a transition to clean energy, not the Jordan Cove LNG export terminal and fracked gas pipeline.

At these hearings, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) will hear from the public about whether Jordan Cove LNG's “Certificate of Need” should be denied or approved.

DATE: Monday, June 24, 2019
TIME: 1-8pm (break 4-5pm)
LOCATION: Southwestern Oregon Community College, Hale Center for the Performing Arts
1988 Newmark Avenue, Coos Bay, OR
WEAR: Red clothes!

In 2016, FERC denied this certificate for Jordan Cove LNG, citing adverse impacts to landowners and a lack of public need for the project. This is one of the few fracked gas pipelines ever denied by FERC. Since then, Canadian fossil fuel corporation Pembina has reapplied under the Trump administration, but still has no permission to move the project forward (and was recently denied a critical state permit).

If built, the Jordan Cove LNG project would harm hundreds of waterways, seize property from private landowners through eminent domain, create a major safety and public health hazards, impact Tribal territories, cultural resources, and burial grounds, and become the largest source of climate pollution in the state.

More information about community rallies coming soon.

Submit a comment to FERC right now!
